Lucky Ellie

Ellie's new Lupine set came today. She looks beautiful in Woofstock. Plus, there were some gourmet dog cookies from For Your Paws Only (a big Lupine retailer) and a Woofstock keychain.

Today we visited a dentist office waiting room, she was very good and thought it smelled interesting. We practiced "Go Under" the chairs. She's getting better at this. Afterwards we practiced walking next to a busy road, she was a little distracted in the beginning but got much better soon after.

Waiting in the car

"Up" on a fence"

Boring bones......
We also went to a neat industrial building converted into a sort of a mall. Ellie hadn't ever been in that sort of atmosphere before. She did very well. She was also a good girl while the humans ate pizza in a restaurant. She didn't sniff for it once. Of course, she was pretty tired.
There was this really weird astronaut on the ceiling. I had Ellie look up and she was very interested when she saw it. She hasn't ever seen a person dangling from the ceiling before....
Last stop was Whole Foods, and naturally she was good there too :)
Ellie had a good day. The new meaty treats helped......

NEADS Fall Graduation and Halloween

Yesterday we went to Pax and Sasha's (Pax's raiser) house for Halloween, where there would be way more kids than where we live. Ellie and Pax had a good time and a few kids gave them treats. Ellie also played a little with the resident dogs, Lilly and Maisie.

This morning Ellie woke up with a cough, so we did the right thing and didn't bring her to graduation. I was disappointed, it would have been great exposure. The medical person said Romeo also has a cough so that's where she got it. I guess Pax is next.
The Lions club has started a neat project where they make trading cards for every dog that graduates. Ronnie was really popular and soon sold out.

Graduation took a long time, but afterwards I got to meet Ronnie and her new person. Ronnie was REALLY excited to see Sasha, but was pleased to see me too. Sasha raised her a much longer time than I did. Ronnie was rolling over on her back for a belly rub and was all wiggly. Her person said she never does this for just anyone, she usually holds herself back. And here's Paxy being a good boy :)
There were 13 dogs graduating, the names are:

Ronnie (Trauma Alert Dog)
Dawson (TAD)
Cando (That's CAN-doo!) (TAD)
Doc (TAD)
Faith (TAD)
Harrington (TAD)
Cozy (Service Dog)
Izzi (Balance Dog)
Vinny (Service Dog)
Billy (Service Dog)
Haskell (Service Dog)
Cal (Dog for the classroom)
Sutton (Therapy Dog)

There were 5 Black Labs, 5 Yellow Labs, 1 Golden Retriever, 1 Standard Poodle and 1 Australian Labradoodle.

Vinny and Izzi couldn't make it but everyone else was there.

Ellie is going to be staying at my house for awhile until her cough goes away. I feel really bad for her inmate :(

P.S. I love my new Service Dog leash!!!

Tricks for Treats Contest

Lupine collars and lead's Facebook page hosted a Tricks for Treats Halloween video contest. The prize was a free collar and lead set of your choice.
Guess what? I won!!! I entered a video of Barrett walking Jake, the neighbor's dog.

I'm so excited :) I've requested the Woofstock Pattern that I wanted before but never bought. Maybe I knew that I was going to get it free.......

On top of this, I ordered myself an actual Service Dog leash from J and J Dog Supplies for only $27 ($21 for the leash, $6 for the shipping). It's meant to arrive today.I love leashes :)

NEADS Class

On Saturday Ellie went to class at NEADS, she was very good. There was a lot of other dogs there as this class wasn't for a specific age group.Ellie snacking on Pax in the car

We practiced leave it with treats on the floor, walking around people and also greeting them, heeling on and off leash, having strangers step over the dogs, switching dogs with other raisers, meeting a HUGE stuffed gorilla (there was one dog that kept alert barking at this guy) and down-stays with distractions (other dogs playing, tennis balls, stuffed toys).
It was a great class as always, and Pax slept on my lap on the way home and Ellie next to me. Ellie's a pretty independent puppy while Pax is pretty snuggly. And he has the biggest paws and head! But he's really skinny, while I have trouble keeping Ellie's weight down.
On Sunday we went for a long walk in the woods. Later Ellie had a playdate with Pax on the tennis courts before going back to prison. I'll bet her inmate is really glad to see her, it's been almost a month!

Next weekend is going to be exciting, we're going to hang out with Pax and his raiser at her house for Halloween and get kids to give the dogs treats. Talk about exposure! Any costume ideas for Ellie that won't get in her way? Something lightweight that she wouldn't mind wearing.
And then on Sunday is NEADS' Fall graduation. Ronnie and her person are going to be there, so it'll be great to see her. Ronnie

I can't wait, but I'm a little nervous hoping Ellie will be good around all those other dogs! NEADS encourages people to bring their puppies in training to graduation, so there will be plenty.
